Welcome to St. Mary's Cathedral

We are happy to welcome you to our website and hope the information provided will be helpful. If you have never visited the Cathedral or participated at one of our liturgical celebrations, we invite you to visit and attend mass. The Cathedral is the spiritual home to some 900 families as well as being the Roman Catholic Cathedral for the Archdiocese of Winnipeg. Throughout its long history, the Cathedral Community has welcomed newcomers to Canada and Winnipeg and has sown the seeds of faith in the lives of thousands of Catholic Christians. As we celebrate our faith we are thankful to God for the many blessings the Lord has bestowed on us! Again, welcome and may the Lord bless you.

The 1st hour of our weekly income for God
Christian Stewardship acknowledges that everything we have and hold comes from God.  All is given to us for our good and the good of the world.  A Stewardship respone calls us to return to the Lord the first fruits of all that we have been given.  Traditionally for many, this means the first hour of our weekly income.  At St. Mary's, we are asked to consider this measure of Stewardship as the beginning of our annual parish financial support.  In Manitoba, the hourly minimum wage is currently $11.15 per hour.  Therefore, the starting point for our financila offering should at least reflect this minimum.  If the household is a dual income family, then the starting point of our gift would be would be $22.30 per week.  The goal of Christian Stewardship is to eventually grow toward Christian Tithing, which means 10% of our total household income.  All gifts that we give to God always come back manifold!
